Francisco had five siblings four of whom would never leave Spain and one brother who ventured with him to America... Maria, Balbina, Engracia, and Jose remain in their birth Country and Rafael takes the plunge with his Brother in hopes of achieving the American dream.

Mr. Fernandez would immigrate from Spain to the United States in 1917 and settles in the Sunshine State and City of Tampa, Florida. Francisco promptly meets his soon-to-be Wife Antonia who is 12 years his Junior and a recent immigrant herself although she arrived from Italy the year prior in 1916.

The couple welcomes a Son and their only child into the World whom they bequeath the name Jose in the latter months of 1917.

According to Florida census records and Tampa City directories, Francisco supports his family in the field of cigar making. Mr. Fernandez was also active in a group I knew nothing about called "The Loyal Knights of America" which was a Spanish Secret Order Society !!

The Fernandez family maintain a quiet and peaceful existence until July 3rd, 1934 when Francisco passes away at the age of 59.
