Redding was the 6th of 7 verifiable children welcomed into the World by his parents. His elder siblings were Catharine, Mitchel, Martha, Culbert, and Hilliard. He also had a younger Brother, Drury.

Jones Patriarch, Thomas Hilliard supported his family in a variety of ways including the field of farming, and "butchery"

On August 3rd, 1862 Redding (18) enlisted in the CSA's Co. A 2nd Battalion Florida Infantry @ "Blacks Branch", Florida during the American Civil War. The 2nd participated in many conflicts from the Seven Days' Battles to Cold Harbor, then was active in the Petersburg siege South of the James River and around Appomattox. At the Battle of Gettysburg the 2nd lost forty-two percent of the 242 men engaged. Mr. Jones officially deserted his unit, leaving the (C)onfederacy on May 6th, 1864.

Redding would return to the Sunshine state of Florida and Hernando County where in the year 1870 he married his young Wife, 20 year old Alabama native. Eugenia. According to the Federal Census from 1900 the couple had a single child during their lifetimes. Regrettably by the turn of the 20th Century, said child who did not appear by name in Cencus records in either 1870 or 1880 had already died.

Mr. Jones supported his small family as a lifelong farmer. Truthfully there is very little in the way of recorded detail about the Jones families lives. One has to believe that since they had no direct surviving descendants, they have mostly been forgotten and any history or milestones achieved have been lost to the passage of time.

For reasons unknown, Redding, just 58 years old would take his last breath on Saturday June 27th, 1903.
