After the war's end on May 17th, 1866 Charles marries Laura Fuller in Washtenaw, Michigan, but sadly she would pass away in 1869 and the marriage did not result in the birth of any children to carry on the Stoddard name...
Mr Stoddard would learn the art of dentistry, a field in which he would successfully partake in for the remainder of his life....

According to census records and City directories, after arriving back in the States in the fall of 1880, we now find Charles residing in Austin, Texas... Once again, he opens a dentist office and calls Texas his home through the waning years of the 19th century...
He would lose his Father Henry William Stoddard in 1884 when he passes away in Michigan at the age of 88... Three years later on October 25th, 1887 his Mother Minerva would pass in their 87th year...
By the turn of the century in the early 1900s Mr. Stoddard has once again picked up roots and lands in downtown Chicago, Illinois where he continues to practice dentistry well into his 60's ... ( Census record in comments below ) ...
Sometime after 1910 the well-traveled Mr. Stoddard would relocate for the last time to Tampa, Florida and marries his second wife, Louise a native of Switzerland ... Charles was 33 years her senior ...
He would pass away from chronic nephritis on Sunday July 20th, 1924 at the age of 82...
