Guy was the youngest child and third-born Son of three welcomed into the World his Mother and Father... Eldest Brother Edwin was born in1865 and his closest in age sibling Lee Marion in 1867.
Sheffer Patriarch, Frank, supports his growing family in the field of farming @ both Kansas and Illinois
Guy would follow in his Father's footsteps and become a farmer which is what he listed as his occupation when enlisting with the United States Army at the age of 29 on March 24th, 1899. Mr. Sheffer would bravely serve his Country for three years before his discharge on April 3rd, 1902.
After leaving the military, Mr. Sheffer now 32, marries his Wife Annie (18 ) who is a native of the "Volunteer" state of Tennessee. The couple never have children.
By 1910 we find Guy and Annie living @ Somerset, Kentucky in Pulaski County where Mr. Sheffer financially supports the couple as a plumber.
At some point between 1910 and 1920 Guy and Annie relocate to Tampa, Florida. Mr. Sheffer initially picks up where he left off in Tennessee as a plumber but by 1928 he purchases and runs a grocery store on Nebraska Avenue.
Guy is deeply involved with the Joe Wheeler camp for Spanish American War Veterans here in Tampa and is elected as an officer and eventually it's Junior Vice Commander !!
On the morning of Sunday April 15th, 1934 Mr. Sheffer was a passenger in an automobile with Mr. and Mrs. George Birkeback and Mrs. Edmon Clum while traveling to the West Coast Council of the Spanish-American War Veterans. Mrs Birkeback was President of the Auxiliary at the General Joe Wheeler Camp and Mr Sheffer an officer. A blinding rainstorm impeded their journey causing their vehicle to violently skid into a muddy ditch. Mrs. Birkeback was killed instantly and this evenings honoree, Mr. Guy Sheffer succumbed to his injuries later that day.
